The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘Go Where You Wanna Go’ adds 60s sound to Resident Alien S3 Ep 5

The new episode of the Syfy series Resident Alien aired yesterday — Resident Alien, Season 3, Episode 5, “Lovebird” — with more cool songs featured on its soundtrack.

Sounds like The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘Go Where You Wanna Go‘, which was heard on the drama’s latest episode right after the intro, as we see Harry and Heather flying over New York City, with the people down below looking like ants.

The song continues playing as the two now-lovebirds are at home watching bird shows on TV, and Harry jumps up to unbutton his shirt and “puff out his chest” just like the male bird seeking a mate does on TV.

Yep, it’s that kind of episode.

When was The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘Go Where You Wanna Go‘ released?

The folk rock group The Mamas & The Papas, of course, was huge in the 1960s and remained incredibly popular until they split up in 1969.

Their music received renewed interest when former member Mama Cass (aka Cass Elliot), who was just 32-years-old at the time but morbidly obese, died of heart failure in July, 1974.

The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘Go Where You Wanna Go‘ was released by the American folk group as a limited single in 1965 from their debut studio album If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears.

The track climbed to #16 on both the Billboard Hot 100, and on the Cash Box Top 100, as well as charted in Canada and Australia.

It was a similar hit for the R&B, soul group The 5th Dimension a year later.

Listen to The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘Go Where You Wanna Go‘ from the opening scenes of this week’s Resident Alien in the video, and via Spotify on the group’s If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears album.

It definitely has a 60s sound, but is still kinda cool.
