New Parasyte: The Grey poster shows what it’s like living with a parasite

New Parasyte: The Grey poster gives some insight into life after parasites infect the Earth

The upcoming Netflix K-drama Parasyte: The Grey just got a new poster featuring protagonist Jeong Su In (played by Jeon So Nee).

The Parasyte: The Grey poster shows the parasitic spores falling onto Earth, and Jeong Su In with one of the parasites attached to her face, while its body floats in the air like a tentacle.

Behind her, other people are also being taken over by the parasitic life forms, as their whole existence suddenly goes into a massive transformation and some of them begin to kill.

The tagline for the poster is “The parasites hidden among us“, which gives you the hint that those who are not taken over by parasites may have trouble identifying the ones who are.

What is Parasyte: The Grey about?

The new Netflix drama is based on the iconic science fiction horror manga series Parasyte, which was written by Japanese mangaka Hitoshi Iwaaki.

With more than 25 million copies sold, it is one of the most successful manga of all-time.

In Hitoshi Iwaaki’s original story, however, the protagonist is male high school student Shinichi Izumi, whereas in the Parasyte: The Grey adaptation, the Korean screenwriter has gone with a female main character Jeong Su In instead.

The plot still seems to follow familiar plot lines, however, as just like Shinichi Izumi after parasites fall from space, Su In is attacked by a parasite that is unable to fully take over her body.

Thus, the young woman suddenly finds herself having to live in a strange cohabitation with it, as it fails to take over her brain.

Cast and staff of Parasyte: The Grey

The new Korean drama stars Jeon So Nee (Our Blooming Youth), Koo Kyo Hwan (D.P.) and Lee Jung Hyun (movie The Limit), alongside supporting cast Kwon Hae Hyo and Kim In Kwon.

The K-drama is being directed by Yeon Sang Ho (Train to Busan), and was written by Ryu Yong Jae (Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area).

Enjoy the creepy (and pretty cool) Parasyte: The Grey poster above, and mark your calendars for April 5th if you’re a sci fi/horror fan, as that’s when the Korean drama premieres on Netflix.
