Get ready for some exciting casting news! It looks like the talented Jung Eun Chae (Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born) might be stepping into a major role for the highly anticipated second season of SBS’s hit drama, Flex x Cop.
The buzz started on October 15th, when reports surfaced that Jung Eun Chae has been presented with an opportunity to become the new female lead.
The best part?
Insiders say she’s currently in talks and leaning toward a “yes”! (Yep, I’m squeeing a bit, as I loved her in way back aways in The Guest and thought she was brilliant in her supporting role in Pachinko).
A representative from the drama backed up the excitement, sharing with Korean news sources that the actress is currently “positively reviewing the offer.”
For those who loved the first season, which wrapped up in March of last year, you’ll remember the fantastic duo of Ahn Bo Hyun as the chaebol-turned-detective and Park Ji Hyun as his no-nonsense team leader.
The show was a big success at the time, climbing to an impressive 11 percent in viewership ratings midway through its season.
While it was quickly confirmed that the show would get a second season, fans recently learned that, sadly, Park Ji Hyun wouldn’t be able to return due to a packed schedule.
Who is Jung Eun Chae’s potential character in Flex x Cop, Season 2?
So, who will Jung Eun Chae be playing in the upcoming comedy action drama?
According to Korean news sources, if she accepts, she will be transforming into Joo Hye Ra, a brand-new team leader who takes charge after Park Ji Hyun’s character heads off for training in Los Angeles. (Well, that’s one way of writing her out, but will we at least get a cameo before she goes?)
As you’d expect if you watched the first season of this superb series, Joo Hye Ra is far from ordinary.
She’s a former ace from the National Police Agency’s counter-terrorism unit who actively chooses to join the Violent Crimes Unit 1.
Described as having razor-sharp instincts, she also has a history with Jin I Su, our favorite chaebol detective, having been a legendary instructor who really put him through his paces back in his police academy days.
Get the feeling he may not be too thrilled when she arrives as the new team leader, eh? Talk about a dynamic reunion!
What else is Jung Eun Chae up to?
This potential role also adds to an already busy time for Jung Eun Chae.
She is already confirmed to star as one of three female leads in ENA’s upcoming women-centric drama crime-themed drama Honour, which was recently announced to be premiering in the first half of 2026.
It seems then that we have more great performances to look forward to from this stellar actress that aren’t too far off. Yay!
