American indie singer songwriter Joy Oladokun has been making some serious bank in the last few months, as more and more of her gorgeous songs are licensed for play on hit TV series.
The latest one of her songs to get a feature is Joy Oladokun’s ‘look up‘, which was licensed for play on the Supergirl soundtrack this week — Supergirl, Season 6, Episode 8, “Welcome Back, Kara!“.
The track was heard in the scene where the team throw a welcome home party for Kara.
Joy Oladokun’s ‘look up‘ is from the Arizona native’s third studio album In Defense of My Own Happiness, which was released in June, 2021 via the record labels Verve Forecast, Republic and Amigo.
Oladokun signed with all three labels earlier this year.
A year that has probably been one of the singer songwriter’s best yet, considering she not only released an album, and had a slew of songs featured on hit TV series, but that she was also a recipient of a #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund grant.
Not surprising really though, as Oladokun’s music is refreshing, beautiful and comes from a place of deep authenticity.
Listen to Joy Oladokun’s ‘look up‘ from Supergirl in a beautiful live performance of the song she gave Live From Hales Marina, as well as on her album In Defense of My Own Happiness (Complete). An album with a massive 23 tracks — all of which are stunning.
