Han So Hee going back to 1930s Gyeongseong in new project Delusion?

Special Note: This article features a plot spoiler…

It appears Korean actress Han So Hee may be going back to 1930s Gyeongseong for her next acting role if she accepts an offer to star in the just announced new project Delusion.

Han So Hee, of course, most recently starred in the hit Netflix drama Gyeongseong Creature, which was also set in the same time and region.

Now, it appears, she is considering an offer to star in Delusion, a drama/film (it has not yet been announced which) that takes place in two time zones — 1935 Gyeongseong and 1800s Shanghai.

The first reports about Han So Hee’s involvement in Delusion came out in the South Korean press earlier today, so details are still sparse, but her agency 9ATO Entertainment has confirmed she had received an offer to star in the drama, and is positively reviewing it.

Around the same time, actor Ryu Jun Yeol’s agency C-JeS Studios also confirmed he was also reviewing an offer to star in the project.

What is Delusion about?

Based on a webtoon of the same name (현혹 in Korean) that was first published on Naver, Delusion (working title) is a vampire mystery thriller.

The English translation of the webtoon is currently available to read on Webtoon, who has this to say about the plot:

It’s 1935 in Gyeongseong, and struggling artist Iho Yun has been commissioned by the reclusive, elderly Madam Jeonghwa Song to paint a portrait. Madam Jeonghwa Song allows Iho to set eyes upon her — an unprecedented event — and standing before him is a young woman. But why does she ask him to paint an elderly version of her?

“Don’t finish the portrait.” Tucked between the previous artist’s paint tubes is an ominous letter.

Iho learns that no artist has left Madam Song’s abode alive or of sound mind. Just what is she hiding and what will happen if Iho finishes the portrait?

Delusion is being directed by Han Jae Rim (The King and Emergency Declaration), who is primarily a movie director.

We will hopefully find out soon then whether Delusion is another Han Jae Rim film, or if he is venturing back into drama.

Han So Hee’s previous roles

As for Han So Hee, her most recent role was in Gyeongseong Creature, with the second season of that K-drama due to premiere in the second half of this year.

She has also starred in the popular dramas Soundtrack #1, My Name, Nevertheless, The World of the Married and Money Flower, and is the main lead in the yet-to-be-released film Heavy Snow.

With her recent success in Gyeongseong Creature and her aura seeming to fit beautifully in that period, personally, I think it would be nice to see her in another period piece so soon afterwards.

Fingers crossed then that she’s a “yes” for Delusion as, come on, wouldn’t that be the perfect casting with Han So Hee as a mysterious vampire?
